Potassium is an electrolyte vital for the organism as every cell, tissue and organ in the body uses it. It is particularly important for the good of the heart muscle because it maintains its rhythmical contraction. Together with sodium, chlorine, calcium and magnesium, potassium ensures the enzyme reactions and the acid-base balance.
