Hemp seed is one of the most available super foods in Bulgaria – cheap and permitted for sale in its whole natural form. Hemp protein has the highest concentration of globular edestin – 65% in first place among plants and it is extremely important for proper function of the immune system.
Another important quality of hemp seed is its content of all essential amino acids (a balanced complex of 18 amino acids very substantial for children growth, proper enzyme synthesis, detoxification, immunity, elasticity and endurance), essential fatty acids and large set of minerals needed for human health. The essential fatty acids are powerful anti-oxidants; have anti-inflammatory properties which help the immune system; help in burning unnecessary fats thus giving easily accessible energy; help in toxin removal; regulate the hormonal balance; supply the brain and eyes and ‘grease’ the cardiovascular system thus lowering the risk of myocardial infarction.
Peeled seeds can be eaten separately or in salads, and the raw is soaked so the enzyme inhibitors are lessened, then it is ground with water and filtered. Thus the result is perfect nourishing milk. As hemp seed is a high protein food and proteins should not be overdone because this leads to high acidity in the organism, the recommended dose is 50-100 g per day (depending on the protein content in the rest of the food) and 150-200 g raw seeds for athletes.
