I have a 4 month old grandchild. It was suckling for three months and now it is on adapted milk. The problem is it refuses to drink water. Is it normal?
Suckling babies fulfill entirely their water needs with mother’s milk, which is more than 80% made up of water. The water needs of every child up to one year of age are individual and no certain numbers can be mentioned, but the introduction of water in the baby’s menu begins roughly together with the start of the solid foods and the daily amount of water a baby is good to drink is around 100ml per kilogram body weight. It is compulsory to boil the water you give the baby up to one year of age for disinfection and destruction of child’s stomach pathogens.
